Special Events
Every day is a special day for the teachers and children at Yendarra!
This year, these are just some of the special events that
have happened in our Paradise for Learning.
Yendarra School, Otara, Papatoetoe, AucklandBy Invitation Only.

Our Principal, Susan Dunlop enjoyed sharing her birthday with some of our lovely children invited because they are always trying to ‘be the best they can’.
Field of Dreams.

We are proud to be the first school in Manukau City to receive free swimming lessons under the ‘Find Your Field of Dreams’ project. Children really enjoy their weekly lessons and in small groups make rapid progress with trained instructors in the water with them
Keeping Hydrated Difficult.

Children at Yendarra can and do make a difference!

With only one working water fountain and as a ‘water only’ school, children in Room 3 and Room 5 decided the school needed new fountains to keep hydrated so they are able to ‘be the best they can’ and can make the most of their learning time.

With Mrs Dunlop’s help these children wrote an application to Counties Manukau District Health Board to ask for funding for new water fountains. Their application was successful and the children look forward to getting new water fountains at Yendarra soon.
Top Town.

Lloyd Evaroa from ‘Counties Manukau Active Schools’ supports many physical activity initiatives at Yendarra School. The Active school programme enables practical learning for our teachers and children.

Yendarra children had a lot of fun recently when they were invited to take part in an Active Top Town event organised by Active school co-ordinators.
Crunch and Munch.

We are a health promoting school and at Yendarra to help us ‘be the best we can’ we love eating fruit and vegetables so we stay healthy, energetic and ready for learning. Recently, we were visited by a storyteller from the Theatre in Health Education Trust who encouraged our children to keep making ‘healthy food choices.’
Future Focussed.

Thanks to the Perry Foundation, to open up new and different ways of learning so our children are more engaged learners, Smart Boards have been installed in classes and learning programmes are being delivered increasingly through ICT.
